Uk. The British play online but prefer the national lottery

 

 

(Jamma) The British Gambling Commission, regulator of the legal gaming market, has published the results of its latest survey on the participation of the British in gambling activities. The research was conducted by ICM Research and covers the quarter ended September 2013.

* An average of 55 percent of respondents engaged in at least one form of gambling in the previous four weeks, down 2 percent from the same period in 2012.

* More males than females of respondents gambled at least once in the past 4 weeks (60 percent of males and 50 percent of females).

* An average of 15 percent of respondents participated in at least one form of online gambling in the previous four weeks, up 1 percent from the same period last year.

* More males than females participated in online gambling in the previous four weeks (18 percent of males and 11 percent of females).

* When respondents who play the National Lottery online are excluded, the percentage of players drops to 8 percent, which is the same percentage as last year.

* The most popular gambling activity remains the national lottery (44 percent of respondents). Other lotteries follow ( 12 percent ) and scratch cards ( 9 percent ) .

* Overall, 73 percent of players play are in the 'land-based' mode. A further 15 percent did so both ' online ' and in traditional mode, 12 percent play online only '.
