Austria. Green light from the EC to the new rules on gaming machines

(Jamma) The European Commission has given the go-ahead for the approval of the Austrian law of the Carinthia Region which will make changes to the gaming machine sector of the Land.

The interventions provide for formal changes and, in the appeal procedure, the replacement of the independent administrative senates in the Laender by the administrative courts. In fact, the latter will be able to decide autonomously in the event of a complaint against the act issued by the administrative authority and it is foreseen the need to observe, also on the basis of the law on automatic gaming machines and for gambling games of Carinthia, notions and decisions issued by the Land Administrative Court or possibly also by the Federal Administrative Court.
The proposed changes do not expand the contents of the technical requirements that gaming machines must comply with under the K-SGAG Act.
