Even Maranello, in the bandwagon of no-slot municipalities

(Jamma) The Municipality of Maranello promotes a collection of signatures for a popular initiative law on gambling. The petition, organized throughout Italy, intends to propose a law to reorder in a single code the rules necessary to prevent the harmful consequences of gambling, protecting the health of individuals, giving more powers to the Municipalities, countering mafia infiltration and other illegalities, regulating the places and methods of gaming and donating part of the gambling turnover to treatment, prevention, training and research activities.

"This initiative", explains the mayor Lucia Bursi, "wants to keep attention high on the problem of gambling, and can serve Parliament as the basis for a law reorganizing the provisions on public gaming, a phenomenon which in recent years has been involving many people with significant repercussions on the condition of many families".

In recent months, the Municipality of Maranello had adhered to the manifesto of the "mayors for the legality of gambling", a document signed by various Italian municipalities which called for more stringent measures to limit the effects of an increasingly widespread phenomenon on the national territory. Since 1999, the Municipality of Maranello has paid particular attention to this matter by regulating it through a specific regulation, and in 2012 the municipal council had voted on an agenda on the activities and policies to raise awareness of the pathological risks associated with gambling .
