(Jamma) The work of the deputy Edoardo Fanucci continues in order to unblock the payment by the State of the debts towards horse racing. After acknowledging the partial positive outcome of the interpellation with the Minister of Agricultural Policies, Fanucci filed with the Budget Commission an urgent question addressed to Fabrizio Saccomanni, Minister of Economy and Finance.

The provision became necessary following recent developments, for which the first tranche of 31 million in favor of racetracks was not followed by that of 17,5 million to be allocated to horse operators and racing companies. The funds have been duly allocated, but the uncertain timing does not allow us to define precisely when these resources will actually be disbursed.

The decision provoked a reaction from the industry, which called a strike and announced various forms of protest. The honorable Fanucci expresses maximum solidarity with the operators of the entire supply chain, recognizing the goodness of the reasons that move the protest.

For months, horse racing has been awaiting the provision to be signed by the Ministry of the Economy which gives the go-ahead for the payment of premiums and allows for speeding up future procedures. Undersecretary Giuseppe Castiglione had already announced the provision in the Chamber in response to Fanucci's interpellation, but at the moment no decision has been taken on the matter.

"The emergency relating to the payment of fees to horse racing operators and racing companies - reads the new question - risks generating misunderstandings and a situation of unfairness" therefore Fanucci asks "what are the reasons for the delays accumulated by the previous Legislature in the issue of the decree, whether the 17,5 million from the single tax levy are actually available and how the Government is operating to guarantee the normalization of premium payments within 60 days for the remaining months of 2013”.

These are the same questions that over 50.000 horse racing families have been asking themselves, unheard of, for some time.

Fanucci, who together with many other deputies (coming from all sides) has decided to fight in defense of the workers of the entire sector, next week will address the Minister of Economy and Finance directly in the hope of obtaining those answers that the the world of horse racing needs.
