In yesterday's session, the European Union Policy Commission expressed a non-obstructive opinion - approving a specific opinion outline proposed by the rapporteur Marco Scurria (FdI) - to the amendments relating to the bill "Regulation of video game competitions” signed by Marti (Lega) and others.

Below is the report of the session:

Senator Marco Scurria (FdI), rapporteur, gives an account of the amendments referring to the bill in the title, containing the regulation of video game competitions. After remembering the non-obstructive opinion expressed on the text of the provision on 27 March 2024, believes that it does not see any aspects of incompatibility with European Union law in the amendments under consideration and therefore proposes to express a non-obstructive opinion. Senator Pietro Lorefice (M5S) asks for clarifications regarding the calendar of the Commission's work, to which President Pierantonio Zanettin (FI-BP-PPE) replies. The president, after verifying the presence of the required number of senators, puts the draft opinion to the vote. The Commission approves.

Below is the outline of the opinion approved by the Commission:

The 4th Permanent Commission, having examined the amendments relating to the bill in the title, containing the regulation of video game competitions; recalled the non-obstructive opinion expressed on the text of the provision on 27 March 2024; having considered that the amendments do not present aspects of incompatibility with the European Union legal system, expresses, within its competence, a non-obstructive opinion.
