(Jamma) There are 250 million available which must be paid immediately to the horse racing chain. This is what the representatives of horseracing recalled today in the Chamber for a hearing in the Agriculture Commission in the context of the examination of the bills containing provisions for the promotion of the horseracing sector. "To this amount must be added 20 million in prizes that have not been paid out to the racecourses that have closed". The rule that repealed the ASSI must absolutely be repealed as soon as possible, they recalled. Operators also recalled that bureaucracy is killing a sector and a reform must be launched as soon as possible. The occasion must be sought in the fiscal delegation decree being examined by Parliament and in the recognition of horse racing as a social interest as well as a strategic sector.

“The situation in the supply chain is very serious, we need a reform of the sector and the immediate payment of dues. A sector that has not received its due for more than a year and a half cannot survive”. This was stated by Mario Masini, on behalf of various sector associations, during a hearing in the Agriculture Commission of the Chamber. Masini also underlined the need for “immediate implementation of the simplification decree in order to liquidate the 2013 entitlements, and for the inter-ministerial decree of 31 January 2013 to be repealed, against which all the associations have presented an appeal. Furthermore, the establishment of technical bodies and the recognition of horse racing as a sector of economic interest should be included in the fiscal delegation. Horse racing is not a scratch card, but a supply chain that employs 50.000 families and until last year developed shows in 42 racetracks”. Finally, Masini asked the parliamentarians of the Agriculture Commission to "influence the two ministries of reference to take measures in favor of the sector".

No to slots

Horse racing is not a game of chance, it is not just any contest. This is what several representatives of the sector specified today who, while urging the allocation of part of the proceeds from games to support horse racing, said they were convinced they had to separate the world of games from horse racing. Fabio Carnevale, Assogaloppo, has called for a measure to prevent racetracks from turning into mini-casinos, temples of "hateful gambling".
