The Regions on gambling: a document for the hearing in the Chamber

(Jamma) The Conference of Regions will be called to the Social Affairs Commission of the Chamber of Deputies for an audition as part of the work for the approval of a parliamentary initiative bill on gambling. For this purpose, a document has been drawn up which will be submitted to the attention of the parliamentarians and which has already been examined by the Health Commission and the Social Policies Commission of the Conference.

The Select Committee of the Chamber's Social Affairs Commission has meanwhile concluded the examination of seven bills on pathological gambling and drafted a unitary text which will be voted on next Thursday in the Social Affairs Commission. This was stated by the deputy of Civic Choice Paola Binetti, explaining that the text provides for "the establishment of an Observatory on gambling addiction, assistance for pathological gamblers and their families, also with the activation of a toll-free number". Furthermore, the text provides that "to play, you need to use your health card, which at a later time may also contain more data, such as frequency and amounts played". As for the costs of the provision, Binetti did not give a quantification but limited herself to saying that "the MEF will take care of it, we can say that the measures provided for by the law could be covered with 1% of the sums staked"
