The candidate for mayor of Lavagna (GE), Claudio Lapetina, has officially declared its support for the anti-gambling campaign promoted by the “Let's get involved” Committee. “In 2022 in Lavagna each inhabitant played on average 2.600 euros in a year (to know the actual expenditure, the winnings must be subtracted from this figure, ed.), a much higher average than in the majority of other neighboring municipalities. This is a worrying fact so we need to put immediate solutions into practice in a concrete and rapid manner,” explained Lapetina.

The candidate therefore joins the appeal launched by the "Let's get involved" Committee, which asks future administrators to address the problem of addictions and social hardship resulting from gambling, committing themselves to reducing the supply of gambling through actions such as prevention, training, regulation and control.

“In our program – added Lapetina – concrete actions will be included aimed at protecting against the negative consequences of gambling, ensuring control of the presence of aggregation points with slots and VLTs in the area, promoting training and awareness on the topic, and by adopting rigorous municipal regulations and effective controls, with the regulation of distances from sensitive points. We also envisage reward measures for merchants who decide to become "NO SLOT", with the proposal to be shared with commercial operators of the adoption of a logo that can be displayed on the shop windows of the businesses, as already happens in many municipalities in the area. Real awareness campaigns will then be carried out in concert with local schools so that students are informed from a very young age about the topic and the problems that can arise from it", concluded the mayoral candidate.
