The new decree, freshly approved, kicks off a real revolution in the gaming sector by introducing interesting innovations that aim to guarantee player safety.

The new gaming machines will have a minimum bet of 20 cents and a maximum of one euro as well as a win of up to 250 times the stake.

The devices will be equipped with coin acceptors, Hoppers and banknote acceptors and will also have an internet interface for direct connection with the control body.

Effective prevention measures have been introduced, as can be seen from reading the new law, with the aim of effectively preventing pathological gambling.

An important limit has in fact been given both to the actual loss, limited to 50 euros for each hour of play, and to the maximum number of games that can be played in an hour (no more than 300).

These measures, together with the technological advancement imposed by the new parameters (the machines will run on coins and banknotes as previously mentioned, ed.), are associated with a very interesting package which sees the protection of the player at the center of the design.

The new machines will be controlled remotely by the Games Authority which will be able to block or unlock them, guaranteeing operation only within certain time slots so as to generate a protected slot for the most exposed players. Furthermore, the Games Authority will be able to generate messages against addiction and stop the player if the system detects excessive use. The messages are displayed directly on the device screen.

The attention paid to the phenomenon of addiction is notable and certainly the new rule will be carefully studied by other regulatory bodies to understand whether the measures introduced will result in guaranteeing an interesting revenue while at the same time protecting the player from the phenomenon of gaming abuse.

Comparing the San Marino regulations with the Italian ones, we discover, for example, that the winning percentages are much higher and that the average hourly loss, already present in some important national regulations, will be the cornerstone of the new machines.

The introduction of various remote control systems will guarantee the Games Authority's full control over the machine park as happens in Italy, but without the intervention of third parties.

Some certification bodies are already accredited to carry out the first certifications which should allow us to see the first G2 type machines in action by the summer.

We are certain, from a first reading, that the new regulation could become an interesting model to refer to, succeeding in the arduous task of defining new safety standards at an international level regarding AWP machines with cash prizes.

Together with the devices, the decree also introduces interesting innovations for other types of games.

The State Games Authority will be able to authorize the launch of Scratch Cards, installation of machines for collecting games managed by foreign operators, competitions, poker tournaments and other card games.
