Mantero (M5S): "The work of the select committee on the pdl gambling addiction continues, but there are fears of interference from the gaming lobbies"

(Jamma) “This morning I attended the second meeting of the select committee which should issue the single text on which to work first in the commission and then in the classroom on pathological gambling. The rapporteur Binetti - said Matteo Mantero, M5S spokesperson in the Chamber - accepted practically all the points that we have set as priorities for us. A good text could come out of it, which would give serious help to compulsive gamblers and adequately contrast the uncontrolled spread of this real social scourge.

Nobody earns from gambling, citizens don't earn, the state doesn't earn (indirect costs and lost revenue exceed revenue). But the gaming concessionaires and organized crime who use it to launder dirty money earn a lot. Unfortunately these stakeholders have many friends in Parliament and in the government and the proposal could be overturned in the classroom".
