Macau. Record-breaking August: +17,6% on 2012

(Jamma) Macao, the gambling mecca off the coast of mainland China, achieved another major milestone in August. The gaming authorities of the island communicated that in August the gathering of Macau casinos it grew by 17,6% compared to last year, thanks above all to the large flow of rich players from mainland China who flocked to the only place where it is possible to gamble legally.

Revenues totaled 30,7 billion patacas, or $3,88 billion, in August, the second-highest result since the beginning of the year according to analysts' forecasts, Reuters news agency reported. Macau's gambling revenues are closely linked to the Chinese economy and more than two-thirds of tourists from the mainland.
