The Municipality of Boretto (RE) also adheres to the no slot manifesto

(Jamma) The Municipality of Boretto also adheres to the Mayors' Manifesto for the legality of gambling. The decision was taken at the end of the last session of the City Council and approved with the unanimous vote of the majority and the opposition.

A more than symbolic gesture to say no to gambling and the social problems connected to it. "As City Administration we have always been very sensitive to the problem of gambling" explains the councilor for social policies Silvia Savini. «It is no coincidence that for some time now we have been working together with the Medical Consultation and local associations to raise awareness and carry out active prevention on a phenomenon that is becoming increasingly worrying. Joining the Manifesto represents a further step on a journey that we intend to pursue in an ever more convinced and decisive manner without demonizing play as an essential component for the affective, social and cognitive development of children, which is also important for adults. The goal is to limit pathological gambling, which creates addiction, takes away freedom and destroys family relationships".

Adhesion to the Manifesto is part of the solicitations for a new national framework law on gambling, which regulates the sector and gives the Mayors planning, control and ordering power, in a network with the other Administrations, the Local Health Authorities, the schools, Prefectures and Police Headquarters, as well as associations and the voluntary world to build a broad front of information, training and contrast to this type of game which is proving to be a real social, economic and health emergency.
