THECommunications Guarantee Authority (AGCOM) has formally concluded the proceedings initiated against the company Twitter, International Unlimited Company, for the alleged violation of the regulatory provision contained in the art. 9, paragraph 1, of the legislative decree of 12 July 2018, n. 87 converted with law 9 August 2018, n. 96, or the rule contained in the 'Dignity' decree which prohibits gambling advertising.

In recent days AGCOM issued an order with which Google is accused of violating the same rule for the publication on YouTube of videos "all having the same editorial nature consisting in the advertising of games with cash prizes, completely similar to those identified as illicit". The fine imposed amounts to 450.000 euros.

In this case these are videos posted by the same account to which reference is made in the Google case for which AGCOM conducted a pre-investigation activity against Twitter and concluded on 14 June 2023, following which the alleged violation of the ban.

At the same time, identical complaints were made against YouTube (already the recipient of a provision), Telegram and TikTok.

To date, the Twitter channel through which the violation was allegedly committed has been blocked in response to a legal request.

After the communication from the Authority's Council on the conclusion of the proceedings initiated against Twitter, the communication of the decision in this regard is now awaited.
