Yesterday afternoon, during the control services of the Catania area, the police officers of the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office intervened at a betting centre, with an adjoining kiosk/bar, where they notified the owner of the provision of the Police Commissioner. Catania with which the exercise of the activity is suspended, pursuant to art. 100 of the Consolidated Law on Public Security, for seven days, as it is deemed to be a meeting place for convicted criminals.
The provision originates from the execution of specific territorial control services, arranged by the Police Commissioner, concerning the commercial establishments of the city, in order to verify the exact observance of the sector regulations and those responsible for protecting the safety of local public and of the workers they employ and the health of consumers.
In the previous weeks, in fact, following the numerous checks carried out by the Volanti staff on the patrons of the aforementioned activity, many of the subjects subjected to checks, repeatedly and with a certain continuity, were found to be burdened by various criminal records, in the matter of crimes against property, against the person and in relation to narcotic substances.
Based on the reports coming from the General Prevention and Public Relief Office at the end of the investigation carried out by the Administrative Police Division of the Police Headquarters, which developed and analyzed the data, information and investigations carried out by the policemen, especially regarding the habitual attendance by individuals with police records, the Catania Police Commissioner ordered the temporary closure of the business.
