The "Gambling" trial relating to the alleged criminal organization that did a profitable business with online sports betting is nearing its conclusion in Reggio Calabria. In recent days the arguments of the defenders of the accused have been continuing. The anti-mafia prosecutor's office requested 17 sentences, with peaks of 25 years in prison. The accusatory structure was reiterated in a memorandum, acquired by the Court, signed by the deputy prosecutor Stefano Musolino and the anti-mafia deputy, Sara Amerio. “In essence – it is written in the document – it was ascertained that, through a concession issued by the competent Maltese national authority for the collection of online bets and games, the criminal associations and companies described in the indictment, in the absence of a government concession, had started a physical collection of betting and gaming activities in Italy. It should be noted that this reconstruction (on this limited point) has not so far been questioned even by the defence".
