During the interview, the captain explained what wearing the Roma shirt means to him, the feeling of pride rooted in his identity and his roots, underlining how it represents not only a sporting privilege, but also an emotional bond with the city that raised him

Lorenzo Pellegrini, midfielder and captain of Daniele De Rossi's Roma, opened up about what representing the Giallorossi shirt means to him during an exclusive interview with Betsson Sports, the new sports infotainment platform, partner of AS Roma.

After a period of training in the youth team and some appearances in Serie A with Sassuolo, Pellegrini made his return to Roma in 2017, realizing a dream that every Roman child cultivates. “Wearing the Roma shirt is a great honor and an enormous responsibility“, declared the number 7, underlining the importance of fully understanding the meaning of representing the Capitoline club. “It's not just about playing football, but about embodying the spirit and values that this shirt brings with it, and transmitting them to all the fans." For Pellegrini, being Roma's captain goes beyond just his duties on the pitch. “Wearing the captain's armband means living every day with the same spirit and dedication, not just during matches“, explained the talented midfielder. “It's an immense honor, especially for a boy who grew up in Cinecittà like me".

With over 50 assists and 45 goals scored in all competitions, Pellegrini has proven his worth as a complete player. “In the past I preferred to assist, but now I have developed a passion for scoring.", Pellegrini shared regarding his individual performances. He also explained the choice of number 7, his lucky number, which he chose, not for an idol, but for a personal reason. As soon as he arrived in Rome, he had the opportunity to choose between several available shirt numbers, but he opted for the one he currently wears on his back, motivated by personal preference and a deep respect for club legends such as Bruno Conti.

Speaking of music instead, the player told Betsson Sports like Antonello Venditti has always represented Romanity for him; Even during his period in Modena, the singer-songwriter's songs helped him with his homesickness and he recognizes the positive influence of music that accompanied him during difficult moments in his life and career. However, he revealed that he was not "one for headphones”: pre-match communication plays a fundamental role in the way he interacts with the team, as he believes that understanding the mood of his teammates and actively involving them is essential to create an optimal gaming environment
