(Jamma) On Thursday 16 May, the Health Commission of the Veneto Regional Council will meet the representatives of the associations and services involved in the prevention and treatment of gambling for a hearing regarding the draft law initiated by Councilor Sinigaglia " Pathological gambling prevention, education and treatment interventions.Claudio Sinigaglia, regional councilor in Pd share and vice president of the V commission, presented the project about a year ago with the aim of providing the region with a legislative instrument that allows it to start interventions for the prevention of pathological gambling.
"Gambling represents a new social alarm," he said Remo Sernagiotto, Regional Councilor of the PdL, "We are working to fight this addiction that is spreading". And in fact the legislative initiative has begun its process. The project consists of five articles. The first two identify the purposes of the law and the scope of application. Article 3 sets out regional interventions in the field of prevention, training and information. Article 4 dictates the general organizational guidelines for the functional departments of the branches. The project envisages the dissemination of a culture of responsible gaming through the active involvement of operators and managers of amusement arcades, bars, tobacco shops and the like. There is also thought of training initiatives for managers through their trade associations. The interventions will be financed with 100.000 euros a year until 2014.
