Unione Sindacale di Base against amnesty for slot dealers to cover IMU abolition: "A masked amnesty"

(Jamma) "The government pretends to abolish the IMU on first homes (taxation that will reappear in the mysterious form of the service tax, or a tax on services) and one of the sources of financing will be a disguised amnesty in favor of the concessionary companies in the gaming sector, with the closure of the dispute initiated by the concessionaires" is the comment of the USB of the Tax Agencies. “This means that the companies involved in the slot machine scandal disconnected from the tax authorities between 2004 and 2007 and already sentenced in the first instance by the Court of Auditors to pay two and a half billion, i.e. 80% of the premium, if the they will get by paying 25% of the amount owed and therefore only 750 million. A maxi discount, therefore, which appears even more maxi if we consider that in 2007 the Lazio Regional Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Auditors filed requests for compensation for "presumed tax damage" for an amount of around 98 billion euros precisely because of the failure connection of the devices to the computer network managed by Sogei. Subsequently, concessionaires and monopolies had signed an agreement for the recounting of the fine which drastically reduced the amount of the fine from 98 billion to 70 million euros (practically removing a zero which is worth nothing!!!). As further confirmation of the strong interweaving between the interests of the concessionaires and many political representatives who currently sit in parliament, once again the State is satisfied with the crumbs from the concessionaires; focusing on the one hand on gambling - and it is certainly no mystery that the shadow of organized crime looms over entire areas where gaming and betting halls have been installed - and by impoverishing the most disadvantaged social groups who see the possibility of the winnings the only opportunity for social redemption, on the other hand the concessionaires are enriched as the tax revenue has never increased in proportion to the exponential increase in the sums played. Even the confusion deriving from the unification of the AAMS in the Customs Agency does not play in favor of a real state control over criminal infiltration in the slot machine and lottery sector, if even the deputy director of the Customs and Monopolies Agency in a interview given to Fatto Quotidiano states that "With the state game we entered a new sector perhaps unprepared … We had to train the staff and with the hiring freeze there hasn't been a turnover for ten years. Compared to the car they asked us to arrange, they didn't give us much. And yet, we guarantee the state 24 billion in revenue a year”. The time has come to put order in this sector, dissolving the problems instead of creating new ones: it is immoral that the dealerships continue to make spectacular profits with gambling while the scourge of gambling addiction is increasing, especially in the poorest sectors of the population . It is a real economic horror that the State continues to encourage gambling, even through advertising, while causing the blocking of the contract and not even equating the administration allowance to that of the tax agencies precisely to those who are invested with the enormous responsibility of control in a sector in which the infiltration of organized crime is so important. We are business as usual: the Government, which had announced that it would wage a tough fight against tax evasion and corruption, is getting away with removing the tax on first homes for the poor and rich alike, redistributing the cost in droves with new levies that will weigh even more on poorer classes".

“We continue with the policy of austerity and social massacre on the one hand while making a gift to the business lobbies that have speculated and enriched themselves on the backs of poor people in recent years.

This is not the tax we want, for us the tax must be fair, at the service of the people and above all of low incomes.

These are the contents that we will bring to the general strike on 18 October, the time has come to take to the streets, strike and protest".
