Spain. Las Vegas Sands abandons the mega-casino in Madrid

(Jamma) Las Vegas Sands, the US group that led the Eurovegas project, has let the Spanish government know that it intends to abandon plans to build a mega casino in Madrid.

The government has rejected the latest economic requests made by the Las Vegas Sands group and therefore the project vanishes. According to rumors, the US group has asked for a sharp reduction in the tax on gambling and compensation in the event of changes in gaming regulations that could change the group's business.
Neither Madrid nor the central government would accept these "last minute" requests, requests that Las Vegas Sands has defined as "non-negotiable".

Bloomberg quotes an anonymous source close to Las Vegas Sands assuring that the group thus renounces to invest 35.000 million in Spain and a spokesman for the US company has ensured that an official statement will be released shortly.
