Senate, Zscopio (PD-IDP): “Cyberbullying, online video games among the main channels where violence takes hold”

“Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, the debate on this bill truly represents a very important moment, because it offers all of us the opportunity to be protagonists in approving a fair law to defend young people. Bullying and cyberbullying are a hurricane of violence and oppression that enters the lives of girls and boys at a very young age and creates very serious damage to their growth. At first it was just bullying, then with the rapid diffusion and use of new technologies (the web and smartphones) these phenomena took on a new form within the phenomenon that we now call cyberbullying. Why is this law needed? Because the phenomenon of bullying represents, as I said before, a serious form of violence that particularly affects young people. In the case of cyberbullying, social media represents the main channel through which violence takes place, followed by chats, messages and online video games.“.
