Yesterday, the Senate Social Affairs Committee held approved by majority the proposal for a favorable opinion proposed by the rapporteur Leonardi (FdI) on the "Regulation of video game competitions" bill signed by Marti (Lega) and others.

The rapporteur Leonardi (FdI) notes, to the extent of its competence, that among the definitions used in the framework of the proposed regulation of videogame activities there is that, referred to in letter h) of article 2, of "professional player". This figure is distinct from the "amateur player", referred to in letter i). Article 4 regulates the participation of minors in video game competitions. Article 8, paragraph 1, provides for the possibility for players and video game operators to provide their services through employment contracts. The following paragraph 2 provides that the Minister of Culture, in concert with the Minister of Labor and Social Policies and the Minister of Economy and Finance, convenes a technical table to identify guidelines or any shared exceptions for the regulation of player contracts. These will subsequently be adopted by the Minister of Culture, in agreement with the Minister of Labor and Social Policies. Finally, he presents a proposal for a favorable opinion. The senator Paw (PD-IDP) underlines the intention of its political party to present amending proposals to the Committee of merit. It therefore predicts the abstention vote of his Group. The senator Mazzella (M5S) intervenes in turn by declaration of abstention vote on behalf of your Group. Put to the vote, after verification of the quorum, the the opinion proposal is finally approved by majority.
