The opinion of the Finance Commission of the Chamber on the draft decree for the reorganization of the game (limited to the online offer) is expected for tomorrow. Virginio Merola (in the photo), PD-IDP deputy, announced the presentation of an alternative opinion by his group, due to various critical issues noted in the draft decree in question. First of all, he highlighted “the opportunity that the regulation regarding legal online gaming activity is addressed together with that relating to physical gaming activity”. From a different perspective, he did not consider the issue of gambling disorder to be "adequately addressed within the provision"; in this regard, it considered that "the permanent council for public games, envisaged by article 14 of the scheme, should primarily report to the Ministry of Health". He then expressed “concern for the absence of specific publicly available procedures with reference to the subjects who carry out the activity of top-up sales points”. Given his previous experience as a local administrator, he finally expressed "doubts about the issue of local authorities sharing the revenue deriving from legal gaming”, believing instead that “the priority should be to protect the health of citizens”.
