A shared work, which in a short time made the common good and the interest of citizens prevail over the diversity of political logics. A commitment – concludes Valentini – to which the Group for Lazio has made a decisive contribution with numerous ameliorative amendments which have underlined the risk of organized crime massively present in the management of places dedicated to gambling”.
In Viterbo, between 3 and 6% of the population suffer from gambling addiction. According to data from the Lazio Consumers League, in the municipality of Rome alone there are 294 gaming halls with a total of 50 slot machines, while gambling claims 800.000 victims a year in Italy. Furthermore, the average expenditure of Romans in 2011 on gambling was 1200 euros each year, more than double compared to seven years earlier. Finally, gambling addiction is also on the rise among children. In fact, 8% of them - between the ages of 8 and 11 - play for money online in Rome, amply confirming the dangers of the phenomenon.
