Modena. Mazzi (PdL): "While the council approves the document against gambling addiction, the Pd proposes a lottery to replenish the party's coffers"

(Jamma) The fight against ludopathy and gambling has become a hot topic, which has been discussed for months in Parliament and in every Council, also targeting lotteries. "Just last Monday - explains Dante Mazzi, leader of the PdL in the Provincial Council of Modena - the Modena City Council unanimously approved a document to counter the spread of gambling addiction, assuming changes to the municipal regulations.

A little later in the city during the municipal assembly of the PD, the worrying drop in revenue from the party's local budget was discussed. Press reports reported that to reverse the trend and cover the hole, an extraordinary collection of funds was also proposed with a large lottery at the provincial festival in September.

It's unclear whether the lottery will be big because of the high value prizes, the spread, or something else. What is certain is that in times of crisis, even prizes in kind such as hams or wheels of Parmesan become objects of desire and can lead to spending a few euros to try one's luck, simultaneously filling the empty coffers of the Democratic Party.

In short, nothing new: even in this case, albeit voluntarily for the hope of winning something, it would always be the same ones who would be called to cover the holes of others. The lottery called by associations is lawful and legitimate, but formally it appears somewhat questionable and inappropriate if it were organized by a party that preaches well in the institutions, but then in practice forgets to apply the good principles set out".
