“If we weaken football because we believe it is not worthy of our attention, we are doing damage to the sports system. In Italy we live in a model in which public funding for sport is linked to 32% of the taxation generated by our sports system in the previous year with a guaranteed minimum of 410 million and football is the main contributor to this 32%". She said it – as we read above calcioefinanza.it – the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi (in the photo) during "Italy 2023: People, Work, Business", a platform for dialogue with the leading exponents of the world of institutions, finance and business, promoted by PwC Italia.

“Gambling addiction? I want to make some preliminary considerations. Precisely because of the social impact of this addiction which is associated with something else, it must be addressed methodically. First element, greed and gambling do not go on the same level. Second element, a difference must be made between lawful and unlawful. The legal sites have a concession from the State, they are tracked and quotas,” added Abodi.

“The footballer cannot bet on football, what has happened in recent weeks is that not only do they bet, but also on illegal sites. On illegal ones they can't because you have to give your tax code and you are identified. I don't have the magic formula, to combat this pathology beyond prevention we must try to protect what is legal from what is illegal", concluded the minister.
