The game of Lotto it could end up at auction in advance to finance the next budget: the tender could be among the measures that Palazzo Chigi will implement to raise resources for the budget law. The government is in fact thinking of bringing forward the auction for the assignment to 2024, an operation that would allow it to collect at least 800 million euros. The Lotto it is in fact among the richest Games in terms of prize collection, around 8 billion a year.

Of the hypothesis – he writes TGcom24 – the “Messenger” speaks, specifying that the concession of the game of Lotto, currently in the hands of a consortium led by IGT, expires in 2025: management was entrusted seven years ago, when the government announced a tender with a starting bid of 700 million. The final offer was 770 million. Now we would probably start at least 800 million, since collections have increased over the years. The share will be set by the level of the premium in the tender notice, i.e. how much the concessionaire is entitled to, now at 6%. If the idea is successful, around 400 million euros will enter the state coffers next year, while the remainder will arrive in 2025.

In addition to the race of Lotto, which should be included in the Budget Law, other measures could also be anticipated with delegated decrees implementing the fiscal delegation of the Deputy Minister for the Economy Maurizio Leo. The Commission has prepared other documents on the Games, with two main proposals. The measures with the most immediate effects are those of the Customs and Monopolies administration, with the principles for reforming the sector: the tender for concessions for the collection of online bets should immediately be included in the implementing decree. The collection rights would be awarded at a fixed price of 6 million euros, without a cap on concessions. The hypothesis is that around thirty operators could apply, for a maximum collection of 240 million.

Again for remote collection there is talk of adjusting the taxation, with the current rate of 22% on the margin which would rise to 26%. From this adjustment, another 70 million would reach the State. The package also provides for a regularization of the top-up sales points, shops where cards can be top-up to play online. This measure would raise another 30-35 million euros.
