(Jamma) The fourth Production Activities Commission of the Region, chaired by Angelo Ciocca (Northern League), decided yesterday to ask for a discussion with Sisal and the State Monopolies to acquire information on the contractual arrangements that bind traders who decide to host slot machines in their establishments.

The decision, unanimously endorsed by all the political forces present in the Commission yesterday, came at the end of the hearing which gathered the testimony of the owner of a betting shop in the province of Bergamo. The woman recounted the growing difficulties encountered when she decided to let her contract for the management of two slot machines expire, she spoke of the possibility of incurring fines of 6000 euros for each machine and penalizing cash advances.

"This is a bell, now it would be interesting to meet Sisal to find out their position on the contracts applied for the management of the slots, on any penalties and on the doubts that emerged during the hearing - explained Ciocca - Even the Monopolies, who had intervened during the development of the law on gambling addiction, they could be involved. We certainly want the process that began with the approval of the new Lombard legislation to be completed with new pieces that make the gaming sector absolutely transparent and linear. Finally, it is time to implement legal assistance for citizens who find themselves in similar situations”. “What we have heard – he commented Stefano Buffagni of the 5 Star Movement – worries us and leaves us displaced. After having approved the law on gambling addiction, the Region must now find a way to be close to those who decide to give up slots". A problem that also affects many traders in the Como area closely, still grappling with slots: many would also like to have the contract terminated, but the fears and doubts are considerable
