The Horse Racing Consultation is underway. In the first meeting, at Masaf, of the new horse racing consultative body, chaired by the undersecretary Patrick La Pietra (in the photo), the elected representatives of the various categories of the sector discussed the reform of the classification of racecourses, the proposal for the racing calendar for 2024, the tenders for the coordinators of galloping, racing, three-way programming and the payment of prizes by invoice .

“We want to make horse racing grow – declared Undersecretary La Pietra during the Consulta meeting – by introducing clear rules on all the main points that contribute to the good performance of the sector. Let's start with the reform of the classification of Italian racecourses using parameters that are as objective as possible, such as the analysis of the technical characteristics of the facilities, their attractiveness, hospitality, the organizational capabilities of the racing companies and the characteristics linked to the filming equipment television. Whoever has a structure more suited to these parameters, the more attention they will receive for their system, but let it be clear that this classification does not represent a static photograph, but should be considered as a stimulus based on rewards based on the commitment made by the companies that manage the racecourses, to make them better".

The meeting then addressed the topic of racing calendars, on which Undersecretary La Pietra announced "the desire to calendarize the next two years of racing, so as to be able to give operators the opportunity to work with greater certainty in planning commitments ”.

Another novelty that emerged during the discussion with the elected members of the Council concerns the possible upcoming announcement of the roles of coordinator of the gallop, races and tris programming, which will be added to the figure of the trotting coordinator.

The last point addressed in the first meeting of the Horseracing Council was that of the payment of prizes by invoice, on which the undersecretary La Pietra was keen to point out that "every day the office in charge monitors the payment phases to have an always updated photograph of the state of the art, in order to increasingly accelerate payment times".
