La Pietra (Masaf): “The future of Capannelle risks damaging all of Italian horse racing”

“Regarding the situation of the Rome Capannelle racecourse, I express strong concern for the evolution of the situation, in view of the programming of horse racing for the year 2024. As regards our responsibilities, I want to highlight the openness on the part of the ministry, through the issuing of a decree which verbatim contains the willingness to recognize the management company, as soon as the competent Capitoline structures grant the availability of the facility to the company. To date, it is not possible to include the Rome Capannelle racecourse in the horse racing calendar for 2024, given the non-existence of the basic requirements. This scenario generates precariousness and could cause image damage for the entire sector, as well as for the horse racing sector of the city of Rome, both in economic terms and for the cultural, historical and social value of the racecourse. I also reiterate my concern for the protection of the employment relationships of the racing company's employees and the over 500 permanent horses that use the training facility, put at risk by the failure to initiate the procedures for identifying a racecourse manager . I hope that the interested parties can find a suitable solution very quickly, which will allow the Capannelle racecourse to operate again next year, from the first days of January".
