Masaf strengthens its commitment to horse racing. The notices for the identification of the next harness racing coordinator were published today, who will be joined by the new figures of the gallop racing coordinator and the coordinator of racing programming, organization and management of the three-way races.

The undersecretary of Masaf, senator Patrick La Pietra (in the photo), highlighted the reasons for this innovation in the General Management for horse racing: “Today's represents a further step forward for the restructuring of the sector, aiming at professionalism and the optimization of the organization with the sole objective of a relaunch of our equestrian excellence. In order to satisfy the professional needs of the General Directorate for horse racing and give impetus to the sector's reform action, also with a view to greater transparency, the following three professional roles have been identified and three distinct public notice measures have been drawn up of selection. The three professional figures will actively collaborate with the management offices, coordinating with each other and with external structures, racing companies, national and international sector bodies and trade associations. The two gallop and trot coordinators will carry out inspection and control tasks on the judges appointed on the competition fields as well as training the entire category. They will also deal, each for their own area of ​​competence, with reporting any unsuitability and inefficiencies of the structures, services and facilities of the racecourses in relation to the rules of the racing regulations, the specific provisions and circulars of the administration, to ascertain the compliance with the obligations to which racing companies are required and to report any irregularities detected to the administration, as well as carrying out activities to support and represent the administration in international forums".

The race programming and tris races coordinator will have the task of supporting the offices in the management and control of the national race programming, with particular reference to the ordinary programming and the tris races, keeping in mind the regulatory legislation and the provisions issued by the administration, in order to guarantee a racing product with maximum transparency. He will also be responsible for coordinating the administration's handicappers and supporting the administration in centralized planning, as well as supporting and representing the administration in international forums.

Regarding the process of identifying the aforementioned professional figures, Undersecretary La Pietra also added: "With a view to maximum transparency, the coordinators will be selected through specific public procedures within which separate examining commissions will be appointed. The evaluation of the applications will take place through the comparative evaluation of the curricula presented and the reports illustrating the methods of carrying out the assignment, which each participant must attach to the application. For the programming coordinator – concluded Undersecretary La Pietra – and tris race an oral interview is also required".

Applications must be submitted no later than 08:00 on 18 December 2023, so as to allow the evaluation procedures to be carried out in good time to guarantee the continuity of the administrative action and the assignment of the role by 31 December .
