“The sector is undergoing a major crisis, to relaunch it we have undertaken a series of initiatives, first of all by establishing a specific direction within the ministry. It is then necessary to review the taxation, equating it to betting on other sports disciplines. It is the only way to guarantee the sector the right resources and to give back to this world a wider and more passionate audience", he said this morning - as reported askanews.it - Patrick Giacomo La Pietra (in the photo), undersecretary for agricultural policies, speaking at a dedicated The Watcher Talk, promoted by The Watcher Post.

“Among other actions, we are committed to revisiting the classification system of racecourses, many of which are dated and inadequate, and to reforming the racing calendars, to ensure that the facilities most suitable for certain seasons are identified, also to restore the right media and entertainment appeal to the events".

And he added: “We are also intervening to reform the prize payment systems, which are currently too slow, and to launch a program to promote this highly fascinating discipline and to train new employees, so as to avoid that jockeys and horses Italians go abroad. Finally – he concluded – we have created the system of representation within the Horse Racing Council: for the first time the sector can elect its own representative. This is a decision that will make the consultative role of this institutional body even more incisive. Italian horse racing – he clarified – boasts some of the best breeders, trainers, jockeys, drivers and horses in the world. Added to political commitment, to working together through tools such as the Horse Racing Council, a remodulation of taxation and adequate funding, we will relaunch the sector".
