Municipality of Genoa: "Slot, here's how we will respond to the appeals of gaming operators against the new regulation"

Confindustria Sistema Gioco Italia, Genoa: "We defend the right to work in full compliance with national legislation"

(Jamma) The Municipality of Genoa is sharpening its weapons against the initiatives that public gaming operators intend to undertake in response to the new rules governing the regulation of amusement arcade activities and the management of amusement machines. Today, during a press conference, the commissioner Elena Fiorini and the commissioner Francesco Oddoni they reaffirmed the municipal administration's intention to deal with the already announced appeals against the regulation with determined actions. Also participating in the meeting is Pierclaudio Brasesco, president of the Permanent Council on gaming with prizes.

The appeals will be discussed at the Regional Court of Liguria on July 4th.

"We are not surprised by the reaction of the multinationals that manage the slot market" it was said during the meeting "but the administration is determined to continue this work of contrasting pathological gambling and raising awareness of the risks of excessive gambling".

There are 13 appeals presented to the Administrative Court, with two adhesion interventions. “We will resist in all levels of judgment – says the councilor for commerce Francesco Oddone – and we are calm, given that our regulation is based on regional law 17 of 2012 which the government has not challenged in the Constitutional Court”. Among the plaintiffs are the major operators in the sector, but also Confesercenti and Confindustria. "The Tar has already ruled on the legitimacy of the regional legislation - adds the commissioner for legality Elena Fiorini - on the occasion of the regulation of Recco". To support Tursi's reasons, all nine municipalities and the associations that will participate in adhesion to the judgment in which the Municipality will present itself as defendant are "united", as specified by the president of the Ponente Municipality Mauro Avvenente.
