The Minister of Sports, Andrea Abodi (in the photo), spoke during the Orientamenti 2023 event in Genoa, speaking about the football betting case: “We are condemned to also deal with falls and therefore the important thing is how we deal with difficult moments like this: with clarity, with the desire to solve the problem, even if the problem probably won't be solved. Evidently it is the demonstration that we need to work much more on training, on empowerment even at a professional level, there is room for improvement", we read on rainews.it.

“If a professional falls – added Abodi – there is also the risk that he will misinterpret the whole world which looks at professionalism in almost exemplary terms, and this is the reason why we are defining the charter of duties. It's not that this will solve the problem, but it is another contribution to empowerment. In addition to signing the classic contract of the footballer or sports professional, where the rights and duties are often much more evident, the professional will have to read this charter of duties and sign it, hoping that other factors of social fragility do not intervene, because it is clear that here we are at the level of old and new pathologies that we must try to combat."

“Gambling addiction – concluded Abodi – is a topic that unfortunately involves and overwhelms millions of Italians and especially many young people and therefore it is even more important that that level of professionalism is able to take up this challenge and combat these forms of addiction which are certainly uneducational. We are not worried and we are not discouraged by the difficulties, we face them with enthusiasm, with determination, without hypocrisy but with the utmost transparency and we also want there to be no silence, that is, that things come out because the problems are faced with this spirit ”.
