In the municipal area of Carpi (MO), the "sensitive places" introduced to combat the phenomenon of gambling addiction have increased from 152 to 167: the Council has in fact updated the map of each location from which game rooms, betting centers and gaming machines gamblers must stay at the legal distance, which is at least half a kilometre. Precisely 500 pedestrian metres, i.e. the shortest route on foot.
Compared to the previous mapping, dating back to 2017, sensitive places have therefore increased by 10 percent. The Administration's next step, at the beginning of the year, will be to check the existing activities and their distance one by one, for the consequent actions: if necessary, the transfer of the business or the cessation of the game, taking into account the technical times foreseen by the regulations with respect to investments made by economic operators.
These are the categories established by the Region: public and private schools of all levels; places of worship (if formalized and officially recognised); sports facilities proper (not, for example, private gyms and other places that offer "sports" activities to members); residential and semi-residential structures in the health or social-health sectors, public and private (not polyclinics, local health services and "Health Houses", unless there is also one of the aforementioned structures); accommodation facilities for protected categories; youth gathering places and oratories that offer, in a structured and permanent way, attractive activities or equipment for minors.
