Yesterday, at the joint Culture and Labor Commissions of the Chamber, the discussion of the resolution of which the M5S deputy is the first signatory began, Antonio Case (in the photo), entitled "Introduction of an e-sports discipline". During the session, MP Caso highlighted "how the Italian e-sports sector, although growing rapidly, nevertheless suffers from the lack of regulatory regulation since there is no regulatory definition of e-sports, much less of the activity of a video game player”. By chance this situation "limits the expansion of a sector in full economic growth and growth, creating a brake on the development of the sector". The deputy observed that "gamers present specific problems and needs, linked, for example, to the assimilability of sports and electronic games to traditional sports, but for many other characteristics they face situations common to other subjects who create content to be made available through digital networks: looking, in fact, at the methods of carrying out the activity, the players are similar to the creators of other contents, distinguishing themselves only by the particularity of the content created and made available the classification of this category of workers in terms of employment relationships is made more complex by the presence of a further level of intermediation of activities, represented by the teams to which individual players may belong and which can regulate their relationships with the players themselves with contracts that can define any compensation and further obligations between the parties" . Caso also underlined how e-sports "not only have an economic impact because they can create an industry with new jobs, but also represent a theme of social inclusion and equal rights", believing that "legitimizing and regulating clearly this sector can also become a key to attracting young generations to consider new job opportunities". The deputy then thanked the presidency for having wanted to start the discussion of the resolution upon his first signature, deeming it "appropriate to ask for a short cycle of hearings to be held aimed at examining the many aspects of this complex matter in greater depth". Finally, he hoped that the text of the resolution, given the extreme relevance of the topics covered, "can be achieved with maximum agreement among all parliamentary groups".
