There is a clash in the Municipality of Ancona on modification of the regional law regarding gambling addiction. The regional council has changed some points of the text promulgated in 2017, including the distance of slot halls and places of sale of scratch cards, and the times in which to allow that type of games. In this regard, the Dem councilor, Susanna Dini, asked for a specific commission which met yesterday in the presence of trade union associations, tobacconists, consumers and the social and health sector. Work, as often happens lately, where there have been moments of tension. In the end the motion which proposed to suggest possible contributions from the capital of the Marche towards the regional council was rejected by the majority, gathered in the two commissions IV and VIII which were to discuss the rules for the prevention and treatment of pathological gambling and of dependence on new technologies and social networks. This is what we read above ilrestodelcarlino.it.

“The distance and the times of the game are anachronistic measures, they are of no use – the representative of the Federation of Tobacconists of Ancona emphasized, Aurelio Fazi e Paul Gioacchini by As.Tro. –. Gambling addiction cannot be fought with metrics, we need coordinated and intelligent action, we need information, training and prevention".

On the political front Jacopo Toccaceli (Brothers of Italy) summarized and defended the changes to the law imposed by the Region with a contested concept: “The sector, as a whole, provides jobs and creates wealth. Tobacconists pay taxes and the first fight against the phenomenon is done by them against the underworld. Distance is of little use, playing is a personal freedom like drinking a glass of wine."

The position of the is clear Democratic party: “The key points of the new regional law approved in July 2023 which we do not approve are two: distances and times. The distances from sensitive places, schools, universities, credit institutions, hospitals are changing, reduced from 500 to 300 meters and the possibility of identifying other sensitive places is taken away from the Municipalities. The times in which the appliances had to remain off have changed, from 12 to 6 hours. For us these are completely wrong changes. We censure the attitude of councilor Caucci who arrived late and left early on such an important issue, dismissing the topic with the specification that the Municipality will continue to do everything it did before".
