“We are confident that the nightlife regulation will stand up to the scrutiny of the administrative judges. In the worst case scenario, the specific aspects concerning betting shops will be regulated by a specific ordinance. The Council of State and numerous other sentences have already supported the legitimacy of the action of municipal administrations regarding the reduction of opening hours as a form of combating gambling addiction. We are sure that the structure of our regulation will be confirmed." The councilor for Productive Activities of the Municipality of Palermo said this, Giuliano Forzinetti, following suspension – by the TAR – of the second paragraph of article 5 of the regulation, i.e. the one concerning the hourly limits for slots.
