“In the city council of November 30th, yet another incentive to gambling addiction was implemented by the majority, fortunately not all. Let's briefly review what has happened in recent months: the Fdi group, with councilor Liverani at the head, presents to the Commission an amendment to the gambling regulation which would have extended the opening hours, from 12 to 16 hours. At the same time, Brothers of Italy at a regional level, thus highlighting a party strategy, even surpasses the proposal by making even the spatial limits of sensitive places less restrictive. For this reason, the Democratic Party of Senigallia, together with the other opposition forces, proposed a resolution that would ask the Regional Council to retrace its steps and modify regional law 3/2017 again". This is what we read in a note from PD of Senigallia (AN).
“However, we had to witness a new shame: in addition to the opposition councilors, the majority councilors Ansuini, Antonelli and Rebecchini also voted in favor of the resolution, and we recognize their intellectual honesty in opposing an unacceptable regulatory change, however was not sufficient and the resolution was therefore rejected by a majority. Even more shameful, however, is the attitude of Mayor Olivetti who, with his usual Pilatesque manner, did not participate in the vote because "he cannot vote for a resolution that commits himself". Just as he cannot vote on the council resolutions authorizing 90 apartments, here too there is no clear position expressed. To us, however, the reason for not voting for him seems very clear: he does not want to expose himself against the regional government, supported by his own political majority. If so - the note continues - he should say it clearly instead of continually hiding himself. If you were against those changes you should have voted in favor of our resolution, vice versa you would have voted against it. By not participating, therefore, in the vote, the mayor chose to be on the side of those who want to encourage pathological gambling. We can no longer accept this double game of the mayor who, depending on convenience, presents himself as "civic", but who has very little civic left. His latest badly directed political attacks (...) denote a certain nervousness, perhaps the current city government is starting to wobble internally and is looking for an imaginary external enemy or looking backwards? Pathological gambling is a serious matter and as such must be addressed with intellectual honesty. For once, let's leave aside the "party vote" and have the clarity to say that the changes to the regional law are inadmissible from every point of view", concludes the PD.
