One billion euros. It is the sum that the State could collect by putting the concession out for tender Lotto.

The parliamentary commissions are examining the possibility of including the competition in the decree reorganizing the games for which the opinion is expected in the next few days. According to what the Gazzettino writes, the opinion expressed by the House and Senate commissions should make it a certainty that the concession will be put out to tender. In the meantime, the Treasury is discussing what could be the best destination for the revenue collected from the tender.

There are two possible destinations: cutting taxes or reducing public debt.

The first hypothesis seems to be the one favored by the Deputy Minister of Economy Maurizio Leo (in the photo) and therefore the most probable. The second, however, is the most supported by the Treasury Offices.

“The game, even if the balance seems to tip in Leo's favor, does not seem completely closed. In fact, as mentioned, the opinion of the Senate Finance Commission is missing, the one chaired by the Northern League member (very close to the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti) Massimo Garavaglia. The Commission should have expressed its opinion by February 22, but asked the government for extra time to investigate the issue of the tender for the Lotto. Next Tuesday the director of the Customs and Monopolies Agency and the IGT company will be heard,” writes the newspaper.
