The listening and orientation desk on gambling addictions has been activated in Castiglion Fiorentino (AR). It is located in Piazzetta Verdi, 6, and is open every Thursday afternoon from 16.00pm to 18.00pm. To facilitate and organize the activity, interested parties must make an appointment at 3500060385.

The desk, promoted by the operators of the DOG Association (Dento l'Orizzonte Giovanile) - Street operators and wanted by the administration of Castiglion Fiorentino, is part of the activities of the Velia and Game L-Over projects, included in the prevention and fight against gambling risks in the Tuscany region. Operators will be ready to listen to players, but also family members or friends of players, who have doubts about their relationship with the game and who want to share their experience. Together you will be able to undertake a journey of understanding the network and the services present in the area, aimed at the addiction in question, to escape your difficult situation.

“Problematic gambling is a much more widespread addiction than one might think, not only the very young can be attracted by the easy winnings of 'scratch cards' or sports betting, the first game in this age group, even the elderly population lives this addiction with a significant figure of pensioners who play. Precisely because of this large pool of possible users, the activities will be aimed at the 15-74 age group, among these: informing and guiding the most vulnerable subjects through listening desks, improving knowledge of the opportunities present through information material and information events awareness-raising, which will be carried out transversally in the various interventions that the Dog association will carry out in the area, in collaboration and with the support of the Municipality of Castiglion Fiorentino", the operators say.

The project strategy allows for the creation of sharing and collaboration between all subjects in the Tuscany region, both institutional and non-institutional subjects. In fact, Game L-Over and Velia are present in twelve Tuscan cities, including Arezzo and Castiglion Fiorentino, with listening and orientation desks, as well as with local monitoring activities. “When gaming transforms from a pastime to a pathology, it becomes a social plague that affects such a broad and heterogeneous spectrum of the population that we can no longer stand still and just observe the phenomenon. In these cases, listening and raising awareness can prove to be the keys to getting many people out, or not getting in, into this dangerous tunnel", concludes the councilor for Social Policies, Stefania Franceschini.
