Yesterday the examination of the bill continued in the Senate Justice Committee "Regulation of video game competitions” signed by Marti (Lega) and others. At the end of the meeting the Commission approved a proposal for a favorable opinion with observations.

Below is the report of the session:

President Giulia Bongiorno (Lega), replacing the rapporteur Ernesto Rapani (FdI), illustrates a proposal for a favorable opinion with observations and amendments presented to bill no. 970, highlighting the following proposals as being of interest with respect to the Commission's competences: amendments referring to article 4, which introduces specific provisions to safeguard minors: amendments 4.1 and 4.2 (which increase the age limit below which children are not permitted minors participation in video game competitions); amendment 4.3 (which eliminates the reference to the maximum value of the prizes foreseen for competitions in which minors over sixteen years of age participate); amendment 4.4 (which prohibits profiling and exchange of information between players in the case of competitions in which minors over the age of sixteen participate); amendments 4.5, 4.6 and 4.8 (which introduce specific prohibitions and obligations for videogame publishers); amendment 5.2, referring to the Office responsible for adopting the provision prohibiting participation in video game competitions referred to in Article 5, paragraph 5, aimed at standardizing the name within the bill, as suggested in the report on the text carried out in the Justice Commission in the session of 3 April; amendment 10.1 which extends the ban on betting, even through third parties, to organizers who have participated in at least two video game competitions; amendment 10.2 which identifies an ad hoc justice body established at CONI for injunctions and issues relating to video game competitions; amendment 10.3 which introduces an administrative fine of 10.000 to 100.000 euros for anyone who promotes gambling even indirectly and amendment 10.0.1 which extends the ban on gambling advertising also to video game publishers; amendments 12.1, 12.2, 12.3 and 12.4 which intervene directly on the sanctions provided for violations of the prohibitions relating to the lack of registration of the video game publisher or relating to the participation of minors in video game competitions; amendment 12.5 which adds to the sanctions provided for the violation of the prohibitions introduced by the bill also the inhibition from participation in video game competitions for one year.

With no one asking to speak, the president puts the proposal for a favorable opinion to the vote with observations, which, after checking the quorum, is approved by the Commission, postponing the expression of the opinion on the amendments.

The continuation of the exam is therefore postponed.
