(Jamma) The October results highlight a strong recovery in takings for the champion casino, whose primacy over the other three "sisters" (Sanremo, Venice and Saint Vincent) has gradually strengthened. According to official data, released yesterday by the Como casino itself, «the month of October 2013 was closed with absolutely extraordinary winnings for the most loyal customers and with a substantial increase in admissions (+7,9%) compared to October 2012»
In Campione, 7.829.000 euros were received last month, +19,6% compared to the same month of the previous year.
In Sanremo, the month of October recorded collections of 3,6 million euros, much less than half and with a clear prevalence of slot machines (2,4 million) compared to traditional games (1,2 million). A figure «in growth on the same month of 2012», they say from the gaming house of the Riviera, but which has not managed to bring a balance that since the beginning of the year still shows a round -9% (in total, in Sanremo in the ten months of 2013 39,5 million were collected).
On the contrary, in Campione from January to October of this year the income curve showed no slippage. The stability of turnover, say the managers of the Casinò del Ceresio, is "substantial: -0,6% on 2012 while we can speak of a slight increase in admissions (+1,4%)".
If, on the other hand, the exchange rate effect between the euro and the Swiss franc were to be taken into account, turnover from the beginning of the year would even be up by 1,6% (+1,45 million Swiss francs).
«This result – commented yesterday the managing director of the enclave's casino, Carlo Pagan – is worth the acquisition of national leadership as a casino by the Campione d'Italia in 2013».
An affirmation, underlines Pagan himself, however, which is «expressed in tones devoid of any triumphalism, in the absolute awareness that the company from Campione can continue on the path of continuity only by persisting in obtaining excellent results on the market, and at the same time maintaining , with the participation of all the workers, to whom the thanks of the company go, the effectiveness of the existing solidarity contract».
As is known, in fact, in recent months the casino's workers have accepted a horizontal reduction in working hours and a consequent cut in wages to avoid layoffs and in any case to reduce personnel costs. A maneuver that has allowed and is allowing the Casino to contain expenditure within limits compatible with the overall turnover.
It should also be remembered that Campione d'Italia has greatly diversified its presence in the large structure overlooking the banks of the Ceresio in the last two years, focusing on major events and Asian customers.
