In 2022, the Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) gave gaming providers Betent BV and Play North Limited a warning because they did not comply with certain regulations of the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft). The KSA's investigation showed that they did not sufficiently monitor the behavior of the players and the origin of the money used. According to WWFT, this is necessary. At the time, the Gaming Authority (KSA) gave them the task of putting the monitoring in order.

The indications have since been made public because they have become irrevocable. Disclosure decisions are not made public. These fall under WWFT's obligation of confidentiality.

Publication of sanctions decisions is important for several reasons:

  • It allows the general public to become aware of Ksa's (execution) action and its reasons.
  • This way, other suppliers may become aware of behavior that may lead to enforcement.
  • It can discourage other suppliers from violating the WWFT; has a preventive effect.

This is the first time Ksa has given public instructions under the WWFT.
