Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a total of $229,6 million in gross Internet gaming (iGaming) revenue and gross sports betting revenue in January. Gross revenue they decreased by 5,4% compared to December.

Gross receipts in January iGaming totaled $181,9 million, the highest to date. The previous high was $181,4 million recorded in December 2023. Gross sports betting receipts for January were $47,7 million. Last month, gross receipts from sports betting were $61,1 million.

Total combined iGaming and Internet sports betting (AGR) gross revenue for January was $183,0 million, including $164,2 million from iGaming and $18,8 million from Internet sports betting, with an increase in iGaming of 0,5% and a decrease in sports betting of 46,5% compared to December 2023. Compared to revenues reported in January 2023, iGaming increased by 18,7% and sports betting increased by 5,4%.

Total internet sports betting handle of $577,4 million decreased 1,0% from handle of $583,0 million reported in December 2023.


Operators reported submitting $31,3 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan during January, including:

  • iGaming taxes and fees = $30,0 million
  • Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $1,3 million


Detroit's three casinos reported paying the city of Detroit $8,5 million in betting fees and city service taxes during the month of January, including:

  • iGaming taxes and fees = $7,9 million
  • Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $614.400

Tribal operators reported making $3,6 million in payments to government bodies in January.
