Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a total of $242,5 million in gross revenue from Internet gaming (iGaming) and sports betting in December. Gross receipts increased by 15,9% compared to November.

Monthly gross receipts in December were $181,4 million, the highest to date. The previous high was $175,3 million recorded in November 2023. Gross sports betting revenue for December was $61,1 million, also the highest to date. The previous high was $54,1 million reached in November 2021. Last month, iGaming gross receipts were $175,3 million and sports betting gross receipts were $33,9 million.

The total combined gross revenue of iGaming and Internet sports betting (AGR) for December they were 198,4 million dollars, the result of the 163,3 million dollars arrived from iGaming and the 35,1 million dollars arrived from Internet sports betting, with an increase in iGaming of 3,5% and a $34,9 million increase in sports betting compared to November 2023. Compared to revenues reported in December 2022, iGaming AGR increased 18,8% and sports betting increased 14,3%.

Total Internet sports betting handle of $583,0 million increased 2,5% from the $568,8 million handle reported in November 2023. This is the highest sports betting handle on Internet to date.

Operators reported submitting $36,7 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan during December, including:

  • iGaming taxes and fees = $34,1 million
  • Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $2,6 million

Detroit's three casinos reported paying the city of Detroit $9,4 million in betting taxes and city service fees during December, including:

  • iGaming taxes and fees = $8,4 million
  • Internet sports betting taxes and fees = $1,0 million

Tribal operators reported making $4,3 million in payments to government bodies in December.

In 2023, Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a combined total of $2,3 billion in gross iGaming revenue and revenue lord of sports betting – $1,9 billion from iGaming and $420,4 million from internet sports betting – an increase of 18,3% over 2022.
