(Jamma) The Maltese government has notified the European Commission, in compliance with Directive 98/34/EC, of the draft law relating to the regulation of games of chance and skill organized by casinos on cruise ships in territorial waters maltese. The regulation establishes what requirements a casino on a cruise ship must meet in order to obtain a license for the organization of gambling.

By means of these regulations, which will be approved under the main law, such activity may be permitted provided that cruise casinos are licensed by the relevant authority, i.e. the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (which will be granted supervision and control), in accordance with the stringent requirements established in the Maltese legal framework aimed at guaranteeing honest and responsible gaming, free from crime, against money laundering and for the protection of minors and the most vulnerable persons.
