In 2022, a general reduction in the number of businesses with AWP and VLT is observed compared to 2021. In particular, for the number of businesses with AWP and VLT, the most significant reduction is observed in Trentino Alto-Adige, while only for the number of businesses with AWP, Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta record a figure that goes against the trend with an increase of 10,08 percent compared to 2021. These are the data reported by the Customs and Monopolies Agency in Blue Book 2022.
Given the maximum number of AWP devices set by law, an overall increase of 0,45 percent in the number of devices is observed, the result of a greater number of AWPs installed in particular in the Piedmont and Valle D'Aosta regions and in Campania.
The number of VLTs instead recorded a general decline of 1,93 percent marked by the highly negative data of the VLTs present in Trentino Alto-Adige.
The number of Comma 7 devices, for which no cash prizes are foreseen, underwent a reduction of 2022 percent on the national territory in 0,31, with the exception of some Regions including the Marche which recorded a positive figure with an increase of the number of devices by 2,30 percent compared to 2021.
In 2022, in absolute terms, the Region with the largest number of AWP and VLT devices is Lombardy, while for Comma 7 devices this record goes to Emilia-Romagna. Lombardy holds the largest number of sales points for "Games numeric accumulator”, “Lotteries” and “Lotto”, while Campania has the largest number of operators for “Horse-based gaming” and “Sports-based gaming”.
Sicily, on the other hand, hosts the largest number of Bingo halls followed by Lombardy and Campania. Compared to 2021, there was a growth of 11,79 percent in the overall number of "Horse-based gaming" operators, with a greater concentration of the phenomenon in the Regions of Sardinia, Calabria, Abruzzo, Liguria and Campania. Finally, a growth of 3,51 percent is observed in the number of points of sale for "Totalizer numerical games", particularly evident in the Regions of Calabria and Abruzzo.
