Entrepreneurial turnover in catering services remains high, the balance between registered and closed businesses for the year 2023 is negative. In comparison with 2022, closed businesses increase in proportion more than those registered which also show an increase of +6,5, XNUMX%. This is what the latest report drawn up by FIPE reveals.

In "catering services", the balance for the year 2023 was -17.693 units, up compared to a year ago when it reached -17.168. A result due to the more significant increase in absolute value of those who have ceased to work compared to those who have joined.

It is useful to remember that the balance between registered and closed companies is a non-exhaustive flow variable because it does not take into account the variations which also significantly affect the value of the stock of companies.

In bar segment the business register indicates that in 2023 just under 4 thousand companies started business, while 12.188 stopped. The balance was negative by 8.251 units.

A good indicator of the entrepreneurial dynamics of the sector is given by the survival rate of businesses. At a national level, 5% of businesses remain in business 54 years after their start-up, i.e. just over one in two businesses survives.

The legal form highlights that the most vibrant (and most fragile) entrepreneurial fabric continues to be that of the individual company. The survival rate after 5 years is also 54%.

Sole proprietorships are no longer a relative majority while joint-stock companies become one. We are faced with a more structured sector where the presence of large companies is significant and where the market is mostly regulated by the tender system.

In conclusion, the network of public businesses confirms, despite the difficulties of the moment, its broad and articulated presence throughout the national territory.
