Milan. A new arcade arrives in Bollate: the citizens propose joining the Manifesto against gaming

(Jamma) "In the last ten years the gambling sector has had an unparalleled growth, stimulated by the proliferation of slot machines, gaming rooms (so-called mini-casinos) and online gaming, we believe it is necessary to address the issue systematically and constructively by comparing ideas and proposals for reform".
This was declared by Lorenzo Basso, deputy of the democratic party and promoter of the parliamentary intergroup on the subject of gambling. “The uncontrolled development of gambling, the result of increasingly permissive rules, has brought to light serious social and health problems: impoverishment, game-related pathologies, usury, money laundering by organized crime.”
“The missing link in this counter-offensive to limit the spread of gambling is a specific national provision – continues Basso – we need to continue the commitment started in the last legislature to quickly obtain some concrete results. The establishment of the intergroup is an important step in the right direction and it is with satisfaction that I underline that there has been a massive and rapid adhesion by colleagues from all sides”.
“We have to give a cultural response to the problem, starting with the introduction of the ban on gambling advertising, including online. More generally, it is the entire subject that should be reformed: the system of concessions and authorisations, tax levies, tools for the prevention and treatment of addiction, the fight against money laundering and organized crime. And the intergroup is the best forum in which to formulate proposals, knowing that every lost day delays the start of that process of changing the widespread mentality which takes a long time but which is the only effective way to solve the root problem and avoid events such as that of Ischia continue to repeat themselves in the future. This is why – concludes Basso – we will meet next week to begin our work.”
