(Jamma) The IOC will create a special unit to counter the phenomenon of illegal betting and match fixing. This was decided yesterday in a closed-door summit - held in Lausanne - which was attended by the National Olympic Committees, Fifa and the IAAF, the International Association of Athletics Federations. “The unit will work on risk prevention and on the dissemination of information, and will favor regulatory harmonization between federations and sporting bodies” explained the IOC himself at the end of the summit. For the regulatory system, the measures adopted by some federations will be taken as a model, in particular by Fifa "which already applies severe sanctions".
